Meet Liz… | Rye & Rye Brook Moms

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?
Hi, I am Liz Bradley, an agent from Julia B Fee Sotheby’s International Realty in Rye. I live in Rye with my husband and am a mom to 3 great kids. I am originally from the Southwest of England, having lived previously 3 years in Stockholm, Sweden and for the last 10 years in Rye, NY. As a family we love the international flair that the Sound Shore offers; and the chance to experience another country and culture – we now call this home and are currently pulling together our citizenship forms.
My kids are Megan (22), Matt (19) and Ellie (17). They have all graduated from Rye High School. My oldest is back home after graduating from College and working locally; my son is at Stony Brook University and my youngest is taking a gap year working and traveling before going to University of Manchester, UK next September.
Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
I really relied on my friends both locally and internationally, especially those with kids a few years older, we have never had family close by having always lived away. My “expat” family and “american” family continue to make the job of parenting easier! We love spending thanksgiving with our Rye friends.
What are your favorite things to do with your kids?
My family love to vacation. We enjoy skiing, body boarding, kayaking and cycling, and the odd card game! Anyone played spoons before?
Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor or in the corporate world?
I am very involved with the Rye Expat Group, we have over 120 members with families coming from overseas, it is a very welcoming group with various events held throughout the year including girls nights in/out, couples annual party, Children’s Christmas Party and Easter Egg Hunt.
I run an event every September for JBF – A Taste of Rye. We raise money for My Sisters’ Place, an organization that supports victims of domestic violence and human trafficking. It continues to be a great annual event with the chance to sip, snack and stroll through Rye – this year we raised over $30,000. Look out for this event in September 2018.
I am also very involved with Soul Ryeders, this local Westchester group helps people with cancer having many programs that support individuals, families and children. The various programs and fundraising make a huge difference locally and internationally. I am very proud to be an active member having been part of a relay team at the Westchester Tri and walking the American Cancer Society Making Strides walk in October. We fundraise and make a difference to so many.
How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
This amazing community has made a huge difference – I’ve been able to grow as a person, to be supported in my career choice.  I’ve met many wonderful people who make a difference to so many people, I love how caring and philanthropic this country is and our community is extra special. I love that I can connect with the wonderful nature we have on our doorstep. This truly is a special place.
One thing people would be surprised to know about you …
I gave birth to my third child on my living room floor!
