After months of buzz, Chocoylatte Gourmet is opening at 121 E. Putnam in downtown Cos Cob! After carefully building out the European style space, the new dessert and coffee shoppe will officially open its doors on July 8 (ribbon-cutting at 11 a.m. and the first 100 guests will receive a special gift!).
The first thing visitors will notice is the beautiful French parlour feel of the café, with a teacup chandelier, inviting bench seating and intimate small tables. Moms will love the caffeine fix—from flavored coffee creations to hot tea— and both kids and adults will enjoy the desserts (including gluten and lactose-free options), savory items and hot chocolate. All of the food and fresh juices will be made from scratch with no artificial ingredients or preservatives. Decorative, jewel-inspired cake packages and beautiful gift boxes are available for carry-out, for last-minute hostess gifts—all designed by owner Kelly Dantas and made from sustainable paper materials (she will also offer paper straws for drinks). We spoke to the local mom of one about her new business, living in Greenwich and more!
Can you please describe your family?
I am the proud mom to a beautiful baby boy. Kenny Jr. who turned 1 in July. He’s my special treat! I currently reside in Greenwich with my husband, Ken.
Congratulations! Where are you from originally?
I’m originally from Brazil and moved to the Greenwich area in 2014. My job was located here and called the community home.
How would you describe Chocoylatte?
Chocoylatte is a sit-down dessert shoppe focused on creating an unparalleled, heavenly dessert experience. From the ambience, packaging, to our exclusive hand-crafted delectable desserts, everything at Chocoylatte Gourmet was carefully thought out to provide an indescribable experience for customers.
You have such a great location on the Post Road. How did you decide to open in Greenwich?
When I originally began developing the ‘Chocoylatte’ brand, I also wanted to create a lifestyle. Greenwich checked off all my boxes as a community of urban sophisticates, educated, wealthy, and that loves specialty goods.
What is your favorite thing at your café?
That’s not fair—everything! It’s hard to pick one. We will have many exclusive desserts and chocolates for everyone.
Ha, I understand! So what should visitors expect when they walk in?
The entire building has been completely renovated to replicate a European-looking café. It was designed to capture the feel of a French parlour, with a timeless teacup chandelier, plush bench seating and small café-style tables. For the chocolate lovers we will have a 7-foot high chocolate fountain.
