I am so excited to introduce you to this month’s Meet a Mom — Stacy Sakellariou! Many of you may know her from The Beauty Bar and Salon. Not only is she a great hair stylist but a great mother, wife, and daughter. She is creative, loving, charitable — all good things! Happy to call her my friend. Meet Stacy!
Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?
I grew up in Fishkill NY and moved to Rye Brook 10 years ago.
Child(ren) and Age(s)?
I have two beautiful girls — Olivia is 6 and Sophia is almost two!
One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
I think people would be surprised to know that I opened my own business at the age of 26 years old! I think I even surprised myself especially since I am lucky enough to say that it is thriving!
Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
My MOM!!! I love my husband (don’t get me wrong) but I can speak for both of us when I say we would be lost without her. Without her, I would not be able to be as dedicated to my career and business as I am. She gives me peace of mind knowing my kids are in great hands. And that is just the icing on top of the cake in terms of what she does for my family and me! I am so grateful for her parenting advice as well. I can’t tell her enough that I hope to be a fraction of the mom she is!
Favorite things to do with your kids?
Snuggle!! Sometimes I feel like there is never enough time in the day and when we do get the opportunity to just stop, it’s so nice to be able to snuggle them and take in the moment.
Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
I own The Beauty Bar & Salon. It’s a full service salon with a blow dry bar. Two years after opening I had the privilege of meeting Sandy Samberg the Founder of SoulRyeders. SOUL RYEDERS® is a volunteer-driven charitable organization, based in Westchester County, NY, committed to empowering those in our community who are affected by all types of cancer. From diagnosis through treatment, recovery and survivorship, they offer practical resources and nurturing support services that provide dignity, confidence, hope, and compassion. I was approached about hosting their new “Monday’s” program where I open my salon one Monday a month and give complimentary services to women in treatment. I, along with my colleague Genith, offer head-shavings, Chemo Diva Cuts, wigs, wig trimming and styling, makeup, raki, manicures and massage. We serve lunch and offer other nice goodies! I’m proud to say we are going on year 5! We at the Beauty Bar also take it one step further and have a dedicated a private room for women who cannot make it to one of our Monday sessions. We can offer the exact same services for them in a private location. There are so many women who don’t realize that they can keep their own hair for a wig. We are trained in doing that type of chemo diva cut. It is time sensitive as it needs to be cut no later then the second treatment of chemo. If you or anyone you know is going through treatment and can benefit from our services please check us out on the SoulRyeders website and make an appointment!
How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
I may have only lived in Rye Brook for the last 9 years, but I’ve been lucky enough to call this community my home for the last 13 years. I feel like a part of me has grown up here. I started my career in Rye Brook at 20 years old. My clients from “day one” have watched me grow as I got engaged, married, became a homeowner, a business owner, and a Mother! I would not be where I am today nor would my business be the success that it is if it wasn’t for the constant love and support this community has shown me and continues to show me! My clients have truly become family. I cannot thank them enough for letting me and The Beauty Bar be such a big part of Rye Brook! Thank you again and Love you all so much!
