This month’s Meet a Mom is Cindy Zahl. She juggles everything – being a wife, mom and teacher – and she does it all with style! Read below to learn more…..

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?

I am originally from Silver Spring, Maryland and have lived in Rye Brook for 17 years with my husband, Adam.

Child(ren) and Age(s)?

We have 2 daughters.  Olivia is 15 and Abby is 14.

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

I am so lucky to get to go to work every day. Some people hate working; I love it! I am a math teacher at Blind Brook Middle and High School and feel like I have been a teenager for the past 25 years!

Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?

Since my immediate family lives in Maryland, I have been fortunate enough to have the help of my in-laws and my friends in town.

Favorite things to do with your kids?

We love playing cards and Rummy Cube.  We also enjoy exercising and cooking together.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!

In addition to teaching at Blind Brook Middle and High School, I also do tutoring on the side  — middle school math, Algebra and Geometry. If your child needs a tutor, I can be reached at [email protected]

My husband’s family owns Dusty Rose in Rye Ridge Shopping Center.  You’d think I have more fashion sense because of this. 🙂

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

I have made a lot of great friends and connections through my 17 year teaching career at Blind Brook.  Since I am not able to tutor my current students, I tend to tutor their siblings and friends. Word of mouth is great in our community!!
