Meet Jaime and her very special daughter Rachel! | Rye & Rye Brook Moms
To most people, Rachel is a typical 6th grader-she likes to hang out with her friends, play soccer, takes guitar lessons and loves the NY Rangers. In the summer, she finds her home at Camp Chipinaw where she likes to swim, cook, horseback ride and ride ATVs.
However, at 11 years old she has already gone through more than anyone her age should. When Rachel was just ten, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor that required emergency surgery followed by a year of chemotherapy. One of her many amazing nurses submitted her name to the Make A Wish Foundation. Shortly after, we were contacted by them and then met with her two volunteer wish granters to talk about the process. She quickly became very passionate about the organization and has asked me weekly about doing our own fundraiser to raise money to grant other children, with life threatening illnesses, their wish as well. I always told her to focus on getting better and get through her own journey and then we could discuss it. In February of this year, at her last chemo treatment, she said, “OK, I’m done with chemo- let’s start working on that fundraiser”.

With the blessing of Make A Wish Hudson Valley, we have teamed with Boundless Adventures Park to bring you “Climbing for Wishes” a family fun afternoon of climbing, zip lining, music & great raffles on May 20 from 4pm-7:30pm. Register here: Xola – Checkout
