Meet Nanci Farruggio | Rye & Rye Brook Moms

I am thrilled to introduce you to our newest Meet a Mom…. Nanci Farruggio.

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?
I was born in the Bronx and lived there during my early childhood. My family moved to Westchester County, to the town of Eastchester and we’ve been living in Rye Brook for the past 18 years.
Child(ren) and Age(s)?
My daughter Brielle is ( 23 ) and my son Andrew is ( 20 )
One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
I lived in Oklahoma for one year and I loved it! Right after our honeymoon, my husband and I moved to Oklahoma City where he completed his Plastic Surgery Fellowship. We met the nicest people there and maintained great friendships.
Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
The beginning of parenthood was a rough journey. Losing both of my parents just before my daughter was born was extremely traumatic. We were a very close knit family. My brother Steven, my husband Sal and my close friends were a tremendous support system. I can’t thank them enough for accompanying me to the dance recitals and soccer games, and always being there to celebrate every milestone.
Favorite things to do with your kids?
We LOVE being together. Whether it’s family vacations, Sunday dinners or just vegging, we truly enjoy each others company. Music is a big part of our household. I love making my children laugh by texting them the latest songs that I think they will like, in the hopes that they haven’t heard it already 🙂
Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
I am a freelance Makeup Artist. After more than 20 years of devoting my time to raising my children, I decided to branch out and pursue something that I always had a passion for. My very first job was in the cosmetic and skincare industry, representing many different cosmetic lines. I learned how to apply makeup, mix colors and develop looks that are suitable for different people. It’s very rewarding to help clients create a look that emphasizes their features and at the same time helps them feel good about themselves.
How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
Getting out there in the workforce after so many years is scary. Doing it on your own is even scarier. Having the encouragement and support of the community has motivated me to do what I love and for that I am forever grateful. It’s been such a delight to meet so many wonderful people of all ages and be a part of their joyous occasions.
