Meet Therese Karl & Dawn Pineault | Rye & Rye Brook Moms

We are so excited to introduce you to Therese Karl & Dawn Pineault – both Moms and business partners. They have combined their talents and imagination and make custom wood signs, blocks and boxes – all representing love for your home town!

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?
Therese: I was born in VA but lived all over the country as a child. I lived in 6 states before
going to college in Maryland…VA, UT, MN, TX, MI, and PA. I have lived in Rye since 2007.
Dawn: I was born in Long Island, NY (Miller Place). After college, I moved to NYC where I lived
for 13 years. I have lived in Rye for the past 15 years.

Child(ren) and Age(s)?
Therese: I have 3 children. Sophia – age 15, Owen – age 13, and Nate – age 10.
Dawn: I have 2 children. Jolie – age 16 and Jackson – age 13. And two dogs: Delilah 10 years
and Boone 10 months.

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
Therese:  I have run 8 marathons, but none of them in the last 14 years!
Dawn: I sound pretty lame compared to Therese… But, I’ve seen Elvis in concert.

Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
Therese: I would like to thank all of my friends who have children older than my own children. I
continually use the advice and knowledge of these friends to pave the way for how me and my
husband are raising our own kids.
Dawn: I would like to thank my parents who helped raise Jolie while I went back to work part-
time. While pregnant with Jackson, I was put on bed rest and my parents basically moved in
with us to help out with whatever was needed. And of course, all my friends who are going
through parenthood with me. We are always bouncing ideas off of each other and we are
figuring things out as we go along. I should probably thank my husband Mitch too!

Favorite things to do with your kids?
Therese: I love to play any racquet sport with my kids..tennis, ping pong, & platform tennis.
Dawn: My favorite thing to do with my kids is relax and have movie night. Even though half the
time is spent trying to decide which movie to watch.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the
corporate world? Please share!
hometownlove is our joint business venture! Therese is involved in Children’s Philanthropy
under the Woman’s Club of Rye. This organization raises money to provide grants to local non-
profits that help our kids including the Rye YMCA, Kids S.P.A.C.E, Rye Recreation, the Rye
Nature Center, and the Rye Library.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
The community has been instrumental in getting us to where we are now because they are our
customers who continue to support us, whether it’s purchasing signs, asking us to participate in
vendor events, or using our signs to raise money for charity events. We’ve received a lot of
customers through word of mouth and we can’t thank the community enough for that.
