Here they share their 4-point plan to choosing the right summer program for your teen. Feel free to change up the order depending on what’s most important to you and your teen.

  1. Choose the type of summer program.

These three new categories make it even easier for you to browse summer programs: Travel, Learn, or Volunteer. Travel featuresglobal adventures and active teen tours, including the trip that started it all, the 40-day American Voyageur. Learn programs include language and pre-college programs, such as Pre-College Enrichment – on the campus of UCLA. Volunteer includes community service programs, such as American Red Cross in Washington, D.C.

  1. Choose the destination.

There are 22 countries to choose from, including bucket-list destinations such as Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Costa Rica, Peru, Ecuador & the Galapagos, South Africa, Europe – and not to miss – some of the best sights in the USA! There’s something for everyone, both lots of options closer to home and exotic destinations for the more adventurous.

  1. Filter by grade.

Summer programs are offered for students completing 7th – 12th grades with departure dates assigned for co-ed compatible age groups. Some trips also offer exclusive departures for middle school students or 11th& 12th graders.

  1. Check your calendar and filter by length and date.

Itineraries range from 10 to 40 days and most trips offer a selection of departure dates, making it easy to fit the program of your choice into your family’s busy calendar.
