Drop-In: Where Westchester Kids Have Indoor Fun on a Moment’s Notice

If you and your kids are feeling cooped up during the cold weather, we have some good news: Westchester offers plenty of places where kids can bounce, jump, climb, play and explore.
We’ve gathered a big list of locations where you can take the kids to let off some steam. No planning? No problem. Most require no advance registration to attend or have open hours where you can stay and play for a while.
Bounce, Jump, Climb & Play
Rockin’ Jump – Yonkers and Mt. Kisco

Rockin’ Jump is a trampoline park that offers kids a chance to bounce, climb, and play. The locations in both Yonkers and Mt. Kisco have open jump times every day of the week. Prices vary for each location, but both let you book online in advance, or walk in and purchase jump time on-site.
The Play Place – Elmsford

The Play Place in Elmsford has plenty of space to play, plus tennis courts, an indoor sports field, and a climbing structure. The Play Place offers open play every day from 9 AM – 6 PM.
The Cliffs at Valhalla – Valhalla

The Cliffs at Valhalla, an indoor rock climbing facility, has open climb hours (where staff are available to assist you with climbing) every day of the week. No experience is necessary, and all needed equipment is available on-site. Wear comfortable clothes for climbing and moving. Day passes are available that include climbing shoes, harnesses, and chalk. Kids can scale walls in their sneakers or can rent climbing shoes; harness rentals are mandatory for kids participating in open climb. Pricing is the same for kids and adults. Recommended for ages 5 and up
Legoland Discovery Center – Yonkers

Legloand Discovery Center has plenty of activities for Lego lovers of all ages. Play with Legos, check out 4-D movies, go on rides, race Lego cars against other kids, and attend Lego-building workshops. You don’t need to make reservations, but you can purchase tickets in advance online, which will shorten your wait to get in and is a good idea since Legoland Discovery Center is a popular destination and can get crowded during peak times.
BounceU – Elmsford

Although reservations are required, Bounce U regularly offers “Open Bounce” during the week. Open bounces last 1 – 2 hours. Currently, BounceU in Elmsford offers All-Ages open bounce on Monday – Thursday at 4 PM; Preschool Playdates Monday – Friday at 10 AM, and Family Bounce Nights at 6:30 PM on Wednesdays. Parents are free.
Sky Zone Trampoline Park – New Rochelle

Visitors to Sky Zone Trampoline Park can purchase 60-minute or 120-minute tickets, which provide full access to freestyle jumping, a foam area, dodgeball and more.

Gymboree offers a variety of classes and programs for babies and kids aged 0-5. Open Gym Times are offered for a drop-in fee for non-members, while open play is free for Gymboree members. It offers open play time slots every day of the week.

Play is an indoor play space located inside the Westchester Mall. It’s free of charge and features soft play, digital activities, musical play, and play tiles, and is ideal for toddlers and preschoolers.
Leapin’ Lizards – Port Chester

Leapin’ Lizards offers tunnels, ball pits, mazes, slides, and more. The indoor play facility offers general admission each day, and also offers value packs, memberships, and discounts for children under 5 before 1 PM (excluding holidays and days with no school).
Westchester Children’s Museum – Rye

You don’t need to purchase tickets in advance to visit the Westchester Children’s Museum, which features plenty of interactive fun for kids of all ages up to 13. Admission is free for members and children 12 months and under. The museum offers drop-in science, engineering, arts, and crafts programs on an ongoing basis.
Fun Craft –Scarsdale

Fun Craft welcomes walk-ins, and are open to the public each day from 10-5 pm for walk-ins (although they recommend calling ahead on the weekends, which get busy). Walk-in craft projects include hand-made plaster crafts (for same-day completion) and ceramic bisques (which need to be picked up at a later date). There is no sitting fee, and there’s also a café on site.
Scribble Art – Dobbs Ferry

Scribble Art offers a variety of drop-in options for young artists, including Scribble Mat Lab (all ages), sensory play (18 months – 4 years old), Friday Drop & Dine (4 and older), two-hour drop-off for 2-year-olds, and Saturday workshops (all ages).

Life – The Place to Be – Ardsley

LIFE offers a laser tag center, rock climbing wall, bowling alley, arcade, and a soft play center for kids ages 9 and under. There’s also a café on site. LIFE is open year-round for “Family Fun” visits and is open every day except Monday; but check the website or call ahead because the venue also hosts private events.
Sportime USA – Elmsford

Sportime USA has arcade games, laser tag, a rock climbing wall, bumper cars, amusement rides, batting cages, and an indoor playground and restaurant. It regularly offers kids’ drop-off days on holidays/school closures, and offers unlimited wristbands Friday 5pm – Sunday 8pm (as well as on school breaks/holidays).
FunFuzion – New Rochelle

No reservations are required to visit FunFuzion, an indoor amusement park open every day of the week. The venue has hundreds of video games, rides, laser tag, miniature golf, bowling, and more. Prices vary by activity, with many in the $5 – $15 per person range. You can purchase a pre-paid card and pay for activities with the card.
