Kids all over the county are spending this summer at camp. For those going to sleep-away camp, visiting day can be one of the highlights, accompanied by mementos from home — and lots of snacks. Since many kids have nut allergies, it’s wise to bring treats that the entire bunk can eat. That’s where Lani Steinberg and Rachel Farscht come in. Motivated by their sons’ allergies, the Larchmont moms created Bo & Ty Sweets, a line of nut-free candy.

Recently, Bo & Ty Sweets, which has tailored treats to holidays and special events in the past, debuted a line of custom camp gifts for visiting day and birthdays. “As parents of kids with nut allergies, we know how scary and heartbreaking it is when candy is being handed out that is dangerous for our kids to eat. We are happy to help provide parents with yummy treats for their kids that can be shared with all of the bunkmates, not just some,” says Farscht. She says that since camp spirit is a huge part of sleep-away camp, Bo & Ty Sweets includes custom camp logos on their products. You can also select camp colors for some of the candy.

Candies include chocolate beads, jellybeans, and gummy worms. In addition to sugary snacks, the camp collection includes bunk games, color-war gear, and bracelets. Available until late August, Bo & Ty Sweets’ line of camp candy can be purchased at Westchester retailers including Sugar-Hi in Armonk, Gift Lab in Scarsdale, and Stefanie’s Kloset in Larchmont. They can also be shipped directly to camp or ordered on Bo & Ty Sweets’ website.
