The Performing Arts Center presents Black Violin | Rye & Rye Brook Moms

November 3rd, 8pm, The Performing Arts Center at SUNY Purchase presents Black Violin.
“Black Violin upends cultural and musical stereotypes…an unexpected blend of classically trained musician-ship and hip-hop beats and inventiveness.” —The Miami Herald
Classically trained musicians, Wilner “Wil B” Baptiste (viola) and Kevin “Kev Marcus” Sylvester (violin) met as high school orchestra nerds; today they play genre-bending music, radically fusing hip-hop and pop with classical to create a kaleidoscope of sounds uniquely their own. Their perception-changing, stereotype-shattering mission: to encourage and empower people of all ages, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds to find what connects us.
They are heading to Purchase this fall on their Classical Boom Tour and we can’t wait. Come for a date night, or bring the kids along. Black Violin promises to blow the roof off the Concert Hall and impress even the most jaded teen!
